Come down from the cloud you claimed as ground. There’s a soil that will find you, claim you, break you down. You dance like ballerina from one crumbling Sentence structure to another. It’s babel, But you don’t care as long as you never see the gavel Come down from the cloud you claimed as ground. There’s a soil that will judge you, love you. Come to terms.

How’s it gonna be when they ride to town, ride to town, ride to town? How’s it gonna be when they ride to town, ride to town? How’s it gonna be when they bring the dogs, bring the dogs, bring the dogs? How’s it gonna be when they bring the dogs, bring the dogs? How’s it gonna be when they take one chair, take one chair, take one chair? How’s it gonna be when they take one chair, take one chair? How’s it gonna be when the music stops, music stops, music stops? How’s it gonna be when the music stops, music stops? Hard rain’s gonna fall. Hole in the roof where the rain comes through. Head for the hills, howl at the moon. That’s all right, any way you do. I’ll be me, you be you. How’s it gonna be when they tie our legs, tie our legs, tie our legs? How’s it gonna be when they tie our legs, tie our legs? How’s it gonna be when they drop the egg, drop the egg, drop the egg? How’s it gonna be when they drop the egg, drop the egg? Hard rain’s gonna fall. Hole in the roof where the rain comes through. Head for the hills, howl at the moon. That’s all right, any way you do. I’ll be me, you be you. How’s it gonna be when they skip to the end, skip to the end, skip to the end? How’s it gonna be when they skip to the end, skip to the end? Lou, lou, skip to my lou. Lou, lou, skip to my lou, Lou, lou, skip to my lou. Skip to my lou my darling. Hard rain’s gonna fall. Hole in the roof where the rain comes through. Head for the hills, howl at the moon. That’s all right, any way you do. I’ll be me, you be you.

i call the nearest hearing god, oh lift me on the wings of truth as the wheels on that ancient chariot come loose how could all this beauty come to be dashed against the rocks and collapsed upon by the sea pages in the wind place by place we disappear without a trace line by line this story's being lost in time place by place we disappear without a trace line by line, it's gone forever oh your stones, your ruined cities speak volumes in the silence i am destined to repeat no one will ever know me place by place we disappear without a trace line by line this story's being lost in time place by place we disappear without a trace line by line, it's gone forever

I was looking for that everlasting light. I was searching every corner every morning, every night For a stream to dip my face in, a place to get saved in I was looking for that choir all god's creatures have a place in Oh! I heard the voice of the lord in the forest just before it got destroyed, I was floored, overjoyed, wanted more, andI could sing in the choir if the choir boys sang with a rhythm like that get back (get back) get back to where you once belonged. you can ditch the rest, but believe that this is true: I always believed in you. Oh we were slaves to the war, we were always keeping score, We were doomed to walk the night, afraid we'd wake and find we're crying for someone to say, "believe me, i love you, you need me, when you hurt yourself it grieves me, now change." you can ditch the rest, but believe that this is true: i always believe

i've been down to the depot and i balanced on the rails touched the coal to my lips and left notes wrote on the shale and who do you suppose would be the last ones to know oh the baker, the buried, and me so early you warned me you loved me and i got so much learning so quickly and so quickly i forgot but it's not too late, i hear the calling of the corn saying join what you learned here to the song of the lord oh be clear, be clear, see the light in my tears, i been waiting and waiting for your face to appear don't you rustle through the treetops, don't you whistle round my ears, call me down into the humus, to the soil i hold dear trouble, oh trouble, you were born with your hand on my heal lover, oh lover, do you really feel what i feel?

come on now, the storm is coming. come on now, the storm has come. come on now, it's time to fight, and rally round the ones you love. Everybody grab a partner, show them that they're not alone dance the cities down to nothing and feel the spirit in your bones. Hear, now, everybody listen. Here, now, everybody stand. Hear, now, the wind is howling, and rising to reclaim the land.

i went into a church the sign said United We Stand i went in to gather round jesus they were praying to Uncle Sam who i have been cursing all week as he is lording it over me "you ain't no god" i kept repeating. then here these folks disagree. jesus in the rubble of the temple jesus for insurrection to the chair i don't know who these folks were praying to, but i believed i was about to make a prayer. jesus, jesus, i have read that you said you were God. i don't know what you meant, but it seems to me if you are you came to remind us that in you we were born free.

when your last dollar falls out of your pocket and into the hands of the wrong you give and give and they take away and its been like this for too long you're feedin' them, feedin' them, while we just starve to the death we're feeding them when your last dime goes into the belly of one of these gluttonous pigs invested in a future with benefits for them while we fall for a sleeve full of tricks, you're feeding them. we're feeding them.

Take me out of these electric lights. I want to go around a fire all night. I want to whoop and I want to yell. I want to go where nobody’s gonna tell. Some things I dream in the middle of the day I wouldn’t say ‘em out loud, no way. I drive my car A to B, B to A. I swear, I’ll set that path on fire some day. I been dreamin’ about a free way, And a grace that might actually amaze. Take me out of these electric lights. I want to go around a fire all night. I want to whoop and I want to yell. I want to go where nobody’s gonna tell. I want to know that nobody’s gonna tell.

about

This is a recording of an unplugged, candle-lit house show in Frostburg, MD (at Gabe's house), with soulmobile playing as a three-piece.

The line up included Soulmobile, Catamount/Coyote (Harrisburg), and the Ears to the Ground Family (Harrisonburg).

It was a joy to re-join with Tara, our eternal sister and long-time co-conspirator, and to get Ears to the Ground Family into Frostburg proper. They shone at last year's Common Ground festival, and were great support when the Carnival de Resistance came to Harrisonburg. Good continuiation of a long friendship.

This recording is from February 15, 2014.
