O come, O come, Emmanuel, and ransom captive Israel, that mourns in lonely exile here until the Son of God appear. Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel shall come to thee o Israel! O come, Thou Key of David, come, and open wide our heav'nly home, make safe the way that leads on high, and close the path to misery. Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel shall come to thee o Israel!

Hark the herald angels sing "Glory to the newborn King! Peace on earth and mercy mild God and sinners reconciled" Joyful, all ye nations rise Join the triumph of the skies With the angelic host proclaim: "Christ is born in Bethlehem" Hark! The herald angels sing "Glory to the newborn King!"

I heard the bells on Christmas Day Their old, familiar carols play, and wild and sweet the words repeat Of peace on earth, good-will to men! And thought how, as the day had come, The belfries of all Christendom Had rolled along the unbroken song Of peace on earth, good-will to men! And in despair I bowed my head; "There is no peace on earth," I said; "For hate is strong, and mocks the song Of peace on earth, good-will to men!" Then pealed the bells more loud and deep: "God is not dead, nor doth He sleep; The Wrong shall fail, the Right prevail, With peace on earth, good-will to men." ...Till ringing, singing on its way, The world revolved from night to day, A voice, a chime, a chant sublime Of peace on earth, good-will to men!

O Holy Night 03:38
O holy night! The stars are brightly shining, It is the night of our dear Saviour's birth. Long lay the world in sin and error pining, 'Til He appear'd and the soul felt its worth. A thrill of hope the weary world rejoices, For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn. Fall on your knees! O hear the angel voices! O night divine, O night when Christ was born; O night divine, O night, O night Divine. Truly He taught us to love one another; His law is love and His gospel is peace. Chains shall He break for the slave is our brother; And in His name all oppression shall cease. Sweet hymns of joy in grateful chorus raise we, Let all within us praise His holy name. Christ is the Lord! O praise His Name forever, His power and glory evermore proclaim. His power and glory evermore proclaim.

about

This is a slightly expanded version of some songs I gave to family and friends last year.

Lesley and I don't do much with presents and trees and stuff, but we do enjoy a lot of things about the Christmas season. We like warmth and coziness, allspice, cinnamon, and clove. We like family and cooking, red and green and brown. We reflect joyfully on the hope born with Christ, and with renewed vigor seek to manifest it.

Sometimes I let the bad things about Christmas-time make me feel sulky. I don't want that. These songs are a peace offering, given with joy and sincere goodwill. Maybe you'll give them the same way.

This year they're public. Enjoy and share freely. Contribute if you can.
All proceeds will go to food and drink for our annual Christmas Morning Open House Get Together Breakfast Brunch Hangout Time.

I want to credit and publicly thank Rob and Nina Forsythe for leading and organizing the caroling heard on this recording, and for the Christ spirit they embody throughout the year.

Merry Christmas.
